About Ginny
My Background
I was the only girl in a family of four which enabled me to be independent, find common ground, have an interest in and be compatible with other members of a group.
I learnt to navigate an environment where I was only one of a few women in my workplace.
I transitioned from a career of over 30 years in a corporate environment managing technology change. There I found and developed the courage to explore and take up new opportunities despite reservations and of being successful.
I realised what and who I needed to support me as I took on new roles and built and developed my own community.
This early experience of being one of only a few women meant that when I started my career I found that working in a male dominated was something which I was accustomed to. Whilst presenting challenges they were not insurmountable . As I progressed in my career and moved into management I learnt how key was the support of colleagues and leaders .
I developed resilience to help me to manage the ups and downs of my day to day challenges. Learning how to adapt my communication skills depending on the individuals I was talking to and how they could support me.
Finding my passion for learning and being courageous.
Wanting to be the first to take up new initiatives and inform new ways of working.
The importance for me of being true to my values and beliefs : supporting , influencing and inspiring individuals by taking a different way of working, led me to coaching.
The recollection of my early experience of coaching in performance management inspired me to transition to helping others who faced challenges in an environment where they too were only one of a few.
My Philosophy
What I have read, seen and experienced is that
- You don't need to feel fully ready to apply for a new role or to prove your capability.
- You just need to fully understand your unique abilities and recognise the value you bring.
